The summer so far…

Exciting, it’s been an exciting summer so far for Aston Villa. The signings of Pau Torres, Youri Tielemans and Moussa Diaby are a real signal of intent for the Villains who will be contending with the UEFA Europa Conference League this season. Unai Emery’s impact in the second half of last season was huge for Villa, and after a full preseason coupled with the capture of key personnel well anything is possible. Given Emery’s pedigree in European competition, Villa fans will certainly be eyeing a winning run in the tournament.   

Player to watch…

Flying winger Moussa Diaby was Emery’s number one target and the French international resisted the urge to head to Saudi Arabia to sign on at Aston Villa. 14 goals and nine assets in all competitions with Bayer Lekerkusen were enough to convince Villa to pay a club-record £51.9 million fee for the services of the Paris-born attacker.

Blessed with searing pace and increasingly improving his tally in front of goal, Diaby could be the player to push Villa to new heights this season.  


Kit Watch

The badge has been reshaped this season into a more classical design and that has been stressed in the new away kit. Good stuff. 3.5/5.   

Predicted Finish – 7^th

After finishing seventh last season, we are predicting a similar finish in 23/24. Emery has strengthened his squad with some real quality, which is ideal for a deep push into European competition. However, the feared Thursday-Sunday schedule will bite and with the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea improving a push for Champions League football could be a bridge too far for the Villians.
