English Premier League weekend recap: Arsenal claim top spot on EPL table
After an action-packed weekend of English Premier League games back from international break, Arsenal have claimed the top spot of the English Premier League table by a point, thanks to Bukayo Saka's assisted to Kai Havertz who scored in the 89th-minute to secure a 1-0 victory over Brentford. This is the first time this season that manager Mikel Arteta's team has occupied the top spot.
Gabriel Jesus returned to the starting lineup for Arsenal after recovering from a hamstring injury he suffered while playing for Brazil's national team in a 1-0 win against Argentina about a month ago. As Jesus returns, Arsenal has confirmed that Fabio Vieira will be out for weeks following a groin operation.
Manchester City draw against Liverpool
Manchester City's striker Erling Haaland tops the season with 14 goals and became the fastest player in Premier League history to reach 50 goals in 48 games in a 1-1 draw against Liverpool.
Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold secured the draw with an 80th-minute goal with the help of Mohamed Saleh that snapped a 23-game winning stretch at Etihad Stadium across all leagues for Pep Guardiola.

Additionally, defender Marc Cucurella received his fifth yellow card of the season, which means he will not be able to play in the next match against Brighton & Hove Albion next week.
